When Does a Judge Give Custody to the Grandparents?

This happens when:

1) The parents of the child or children have passed away.

2) The parents are unable to suitably care for the children.

3) The parents give the grandparents permission to obtain custody of the children.

4) The child or children have lived with the grandparent’s prior for at least a year.
